Traffic is heavy at the Makaza border checkpoint with Greece.
The queue is about 1 and a half kilometres but it is expected to grow in the next few hours.
The Chief of the Sofia Traffic Police Tencho Tenev stated that around 100,000 vehicles are expected to leave Sofia over the next few days.
Traffic is expected to be heaviest on Tsarigradsko Chausse Blvd and Botevgradsko Chausse Blvd.
Most holiday-makers are travelling in the direction of Greece where the weather is expected to be good over the weekend.
