Bulgaria: ABV To Annouce Its Nomination for President BGNES

ABV will announce its nomination for President on Thursday.

Former Social Minister in the second Borissov cabinet, Ivaylo Kalfin, has the greatest chance of being nominated. He was nominated for President by BSP back in 2011. Another possible candidate is ABV’s parliamentary deputy – General Miho Mihov.

ABV made it clear that it will have an independent nomination after the split with BSP back in August. The two parties planned to take part in the elections together, but after BSP’s decision to stop the negotiations on a common coalition, it became clear that the possibility of Georgi Parvanov being nominated for President remains. It is not clear, however, whether the Constitutional Court would permit him to do so since he has already served two mandates as head of state.
