Bulgaria has sent BGN 120,000 worth (EUR 60,000) of humanitarian aid to the people of Skopje suffering the consequences of the devastating flood that hit the Macedonian capital city earlier this month.

Three trucks loaded with tents, cots, rubber boots, protective kits, shovels, buckets and metal carts, disinfectants and cleaners, water pumps, petrol power generators, mineral water and baby diapers have already arrived in Skopje, the government I Sofia said in a statement.

“We have provided almost everything our colleagues asked for,” Chief Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, head of Bulgaria’s firefignting service said in the statement.

Bulgaria deployed four emergency rescue teams immediately after the flood to help the citizens of Skopje recover from the disaster that killed 22 people.
