Bulgaria: 7000 Migrants, Over 400 Smugglers Were Detained in Bulgaria in 2015

Bulgarian authorities detained 7000 migrants and more than 400 smugglers in the interior of the country last year.

This was announced by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov in parliament on Wednesday.

According to him, the migrant pressure exerted on the border with Turkey was not very significant at present.

The prime minister added that a group of twenty migrants from Afghanistan together with the smugglers had been detained in the Black Sea town of Pomorie on Tuesday.

In his words, there were no grounds to worry about as the issue was constantly discussed at all levels and tens of millions have been invested in constructing the temporary fence along the border.

Borisov still had no information whether Turkey has began implementing the readmission agreement on the return of migrants detained in Bulgaria.
