Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has declared the lowest amount of savings among cabinet members, the National Audit Office says.

The office published on Tuesday statistics about top politicians and public figures who were to submit statements about newly acquired assets or lack of change in their wealth over the course of last year. The deadline expired the same day.

Borisov's statement includes BGN 29 300 (EUR 14 981) in savings and a BGN 5500 (EUR 2812) deposit. The one of President Rosen Plevneliev includes BGN 350 000 earned from the sale of securities and BGN 2200 in savings from salaries.

Among cabinet members, last year's "wealth" list is topped by Deputy Defense Minister Orhan Ismailov, who in 2015 purchased a house in the Sofia neighborhood of Simeonovo worth BGN 440 000 by drawing a lone of BGN 342 270 and using own funds to cover the rest.

Justice Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, for whom this year's statement is her first while in office, has declared properties at a total value of more than half a million BGN, but these were acquired between 2005 and 2009.

Within the cabinet, she is followed by Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelova, who last year bought an apartment with a garage worth 210 000.

The audit office announced on Tuesday that a total of 59 people on public positions obligating them to submit their declarations had not done so in time, and their cases would be referred to the State Agency for National Security (DANS).
