A coordination centre in the resort of Sunny Beach will ensure the safety of citizens and tourists at Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast during the tourist season.
This was announced by Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova on Friday, following a working meeting with interior ministry’s chief secretary Georgi Kostov and the head of the regional directorate of the interior ministry.
The participants in the meeting discussed concrete measures and mechanisms for coordinating the activities of the officials of the National Revenue Agency (NAP) and the regional directorate of the interior ministry, who will work in the centre.
The joint coordination centre will conduct inspections and monitor situation in the region on a daily basis.
This development comes after the shooting against drug lord Dimitar Zhelyazkov, which took place in Sunny Beach earlier in June and left one dead and two other heavily injured.
The aim of the centre is to demonstrate the presence of the state in the region.
Bachvarova was firm that there is no political umbrella over certain criminal groups and added that there will be uncompromising approach to everyone violating public order.
