Bulgaria: Bulgarian Arms Maker VMZ Expects EUR 50 M in New Deals after Paris Trade Show

Bulgarian arms manufacturer VMZ has said it expects to sign deals worth a total of some EUR 50 M following its participation in the international defence and security exhibition Eurosаtory 2016.

“We expect to conclude new contracts for a combined worth of BGN 100 M (EUR 50 M) after the talks we have had with leading world companies,” VMZ Sopot CEO Ivan Getzov said in a statement on Friday.

Eurosаtory 2016 was held in Paris from the 13th to the 17th of June, with 572 exhibitors from 56 countries taking part.

Other Bulgarian firms also participated in this year’s edition of the international land and air-land defence and security trade show in the French capital, including arms and ammunition manufacturers Arsenal and NITI as well as arms trader Kintex, according to the statement.

Bulgaria’s Parliament approved on first reading a ban on the sale of state-owned VMZ, NITI and Kintex earlier this month.
