The parliamentary group of the Bulgarian Democratic Centre (BDC) dissolved on Friday after five MPs left it.
The five MPs quitting BDC are deputy parliament speaker Yavor Haytov, Rumen Yonchev, Svetlin Tanchev, Georgi Kovachev and Borislav Iglev, who are all members of the newly established “People's union” party, dnevnik.bg informed.
The “People's union” is reportedly having talks on establishing a new political and parliamentary union with the left-wing Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV), which last month withdrew its support for the government.
Having remained with nine MPs, BDC is under the minimum number of lawmakers required to establish a parliamentary group, which is ten.
As a result, all BDC members will become independent MPs and will lose their positions in the parliamentary leadership and parliamentary committees
The split in the parliamentary committee began after the nine MPs remaining in BDC started supporting the government.
The five MPs from the “People's union” left after a reshuffle of BDC members in the parliamentary committees deprived them of membership to key committees.
