National Ombudsman Maya Manolova is brokering a new round of talks between political leaders and representatives of Bulgarians who live abroad on Monday morning, her press office has said.

At the meeting at 10:30 local time (EEST), Electoral Code amendments are being discussed that recently placed a cap on the number of polling stations abroad.

Talks with members of left-wing ABV - which is in the government but had earlier threatened to quit over part of the Electoral Code changes, junior coalition partner Reformist Bloc, and the biggest opposition party, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), have been scheduled for Monday.

A restriction on opening stations outside diplomatic embassies sparked outrage from Bulgarian expats and an exchange of rhetoric with the nationalist Pariotic Front coalition, which had initiated the amendments.

Manolova met with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and representatives of Bulgarians abroad last week, with Borisov agreeing that expats' demands to revoke the changes were fair.

Borisov also said on Sunday he backed a veto imposed on the amendment by President Rosen Plevneliev.
