Brussels international airport has said that it will remain closed for all passenger flights through Friday following Tuesday’s twin suicide bombings that left at least 31 dead and 260 injured.

“Because the forensic investigation is still underway, we currently have no access to the building. Until we can assess the damage, it remains unclear when we can resume operations,” the airport said in a statement on its website on Wednesday.

The twin bombings at Zaventem airport were followed by an explosion at Maelbeek metro station close to the European quarter of Brussels.
