Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria
Bulgaria has witnessed a bustling winter tourism season, with a total of 1.8 million tourists gracing its picturesque landscapes from December 1 to March 25
The Bulgarian football club Beroe will celebrate its centenary with a friendly match against Partizan Belgrade on May 17.
The friendly match will be the culmination of the series of events marking the centenary entitled “100 years the world is Beroe”.
The match will be accompanied by a special programme, awarding of merited football players and many other surprises.
For the first time, the players of Beroe will put on the special jerseys dedicated to the centenary.
The jersey will be presented to supporters in the beginning of May.
An initiative committee has been working on the events marking the centenary since its establishment in March 2015.
The committee has wide public participation and is chaired by the mayor of Stara Zagora Zhivko Todorov.
The events and celebrations will continue throughout the year, with the programme to be enriched.
The organisers have received considerable support from the municipality of Stara Zagora.
The first official event in the programme is scheduled to take place on April 25 when a photo exhibition will be unveiled in an alley of the October 5 park.
The exhibition will remind of the glorious moments of the club, significant achievements and impressive moments and events from the its history.
The centenary book “Beroe – 100 years of football” will be presented on May 5.
The luxurious edition with hard covers will feature a rich collection of pictures, words from past and present players, statistics, memorable matches with the participation of Beroe.
A special song on the occasion of the centenary will be presented on May 17, with the song to be accompanied by a video which will be released on May 6.
An international football tournament for children born in 2002 will be held on May 18 and 19.
A match between the veterans of Beroe and Krylia Sovetov is planned to take place in the second half of May.
The celebrations will continue in the beginning of June when the festival Stara Zagora Mezi is planned to take place.
The festival will be dedicated to the record four Balkans Cups won by Beroe.
The festival will be in the space of four days, offering Balkan passion and emotions through a combination of concerts, tournaments, exhibitions, attractive culinary exhibitors from the Balkans, games and prizes.
To mark the anniversary, Bulgarian posts will release a special stamp, while the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) will issue an anniversary coin.
