Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova will participate in the opening of the world's largest tourism trade fair ITB (Internationale Tourismus-Borse Berlin), which will be held in the German capital between Tuesday and Sunday.
The official opening ceremony will be also attended by parliamentary state secretary of Germany's economy ministry, Iris Gleicke, the Bulgarian tourism ministry informs.
During her visit to Berlin, Angelkova will also take part in the sixth meeting of ministers from countries participating in the Silk Road Programme of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Her schedule also foresees meetings with the head of UNWTO, Taleb Rifai, leaders of tourist administrations and tour operators from various countries.
Angelkova will also be a panelist in a ministerial meeting organised by UNWTO on the topic of “New business models in the digital world”.
On Thursday, Angelkova will give a media briefing at the Bulgarian stand at ITB, presenting the ministry's initiatives aimed at turning Bulgaria into a year-round tourist destination.
Bulgaria has a stand of 455 square metres, which will be promoting the opportunities of the country as year-round destination.
A total of 44 firms will participate as exhibitors at the Bulgarian stand, including seven municipalities.
The visitors at the Bulgarian stand will enjoy a programme of folklore performances, demonstration of traditional crafts and tasting of a selection of Bulgarian wines.
At this year's edition of the exposition, Bulgaria will once again participate in the strategy for the development of the Danube region.
ITB Berlin 2016 will take place at Messe Berlin, with this year's edition marking the 50th anniversary of the exhibition.
Each year, the trade fair is visited by more than 170 000 people, with over 114 000 of them being professionals in the tourist sector.
