Bulgarian Media Regulator to Consider Chairman’s Resignation Next Week
Bulgaria’s broadcast media regulator CEM has delayed until next week its meeting on the resignation request submitted by its chairman Georgi Lozanov, Nova TV station reported on Tuesday.
The meeting has been postponed because not all members of the Council for Electronic Media (CEM) were able to attend it, Nova said.
A week ago, CEM delayed its decision on Lozanov’s resignation request on the same grounds.
Lozanov’s term of office will expire on 8 April 2016, Nova TV quoted CEM member Ivo Atanasov as saying on Tuesday.
On 25 February, Lozanov announced that he was stepping down both as CEM chairman and board member in disagreement over a registration request submitted by a new Bulgarian TV station named PIK.
Lozanov explained at the time that with no legal grounds for CEM to deny the registration request, he resigned as he didn’t want to legalize an "aggressive and hostile rhetoric" used by pik.bg, a news outlet which local media have linked to Delyan Peevski, a controversial MP and alleged media mogul.

And another thought. If Lozanov wants to resign and has submitted it in writing, why does there have to be a meeting about it? Why can't he quit as he clearly wants to? How can they forcefully not allow him to quit his post? They can't make him stay against his wishes. Doesn't make sense, but that's Bulgaria for you.
Why does this vile, slimey, nefarious and obese Peevski need another TV station? And why isn\'t it a conflict of interest for him to be an MP and an oligarch and a media mogul, amongst other activities? It stinks, but not as much as he does. He\'s as scummy as they get, with way too much influence. Hopefully he\'ll drop dead of a heart attack sooner than later. Just keep stuffing your face Peevski. All the money in the world won\'t ever make you a decent human being. Your karma will surely catch up with you eventually, and all your dirty money will never ever compensate for that.
