At a meeting with the President of the Serbian National Assembly Maja Gojkovic in Sofia on Tuesday, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov assured that Bulgaria is fully supporting the European integration of Belgrade.

Borisov added that Bulgaria is delighted with the successes and the progress achieved by its western neighbour in this respect, the government's press service informs.

The Bulgarian prime minister and Gojkovic stated that they highly value the constructive dialogue between Sofia and Belgrade.

According to them, the two countries have many common visions and coinciding interests in different areas, which is a good basis for establishing a true good neighbourly cooperation.

The Bulgarian prime minister noted that the transport connectivity, the development of infrastructure and the close cooperation in the energy sector should be main priorities in the relationship between the two countries.

Borisov reminded that at the end of last year the Bulgarian government had completed the first stage of the projected natural gas interconnector between the two countries.

He added that Bulgaria has started preparation for obtaining funding for the second stage and highlighted that the active work of the two countries for the realization of the project is of great importance for ensuring the safety of supplies to the region of Southeastern Europe.

Borisov and Gojkovic also commented the ongoing migrant influx to Europe.

They expressed common opinion that the issue requires enhanced cooperation and communication, especially between neighbouring countries as well as united stance and solidarity within the framework of the EU and the remaining countries in Europe.

Borisov again highlighted that Bulgaria is fulfilling with responsibility its duties as external border of the EU and outlined the need for finding a common European solution to the problem.
