Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has dismissed Deputy Justice Minister Andrey Yankulov, the government press office said in a statement on Monday.

The statement cited no reasons for the dismissal, only saying that Yankulov had asked to leave the position, according to the statement.

Dnevnik.bg recalled that Yankulov had submitted his resignation at the end of 2015 following the resignation of Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov but Borisov hadn’t accepted it at the time. His area of responsibilities as deputy justice minister included prisons and detention centers.

Yankulov served as Deputy Minister of the Interior in the caretaker cabinet of caretaker Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki in 2014 before moving to the Justice Ministry under Hristo Ivanov. He remained in his position after Ekaterina Zaharieva took over from Ivanov in December 2015.

Andrey Yankulov will return to his previous job of prosecutor in the Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Justice Ministry said in a separate statement.
