An agreement for a fast railway connection between China and Europe passing through the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Burgas will be signed in March.

This was announced by the mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, after a meeting with a Chinese government delegation on Sunday.

The delegation was headed by the deputy chairperson of China’s National Development and Reform Commission Ning Jizhe.

The railway connection is aimed at cutting to a minimum the time of delivery of container shipments from China to Europe.

The railway will service the whole of Europe and is expected to improve the quality of logistics.

Nikolov called on foreign entrepreneurs to invest in Burgas.

The Chinese delegation also expressed interest towards container shipments and the conditions for construction of a motorway connection between Varna and Burgas.

The Chinese delegation also visited the port of Burgas and was presented with the technical parameters of the facility.

On Saturday, the Chinese delegation examined the opportunities for investment in infrastructure projects in Bulgaria's other major Black Sea port Varna.
