Bulgaria: Bulgarian-Russian TV Station to Be Launched on March 01

A Bulgarian-Russian TV channel, dubbed HMTV, will be broadcast in Bulgaria starting March 01, the Union of Bulgarian Journalists has said.

It cites documents of the broadcast media watchdog, the Council for Electronic Media (CEM), which has granted registration to the channel's owners at its lates session.

Viewers will be able to choose whether to watch a Bulgarian- or a Russian-language version of the programs.

A company named Horizont Mediya, headquartered in the Black Sea city of Varna, owns the station which will be available through both the cable and satellite networks.

The owners are quoted as saying the program will include mainly feature films and documentaries from Russia and elsewhere.

They have added HD movies, and "in many cases" 3D movies, will be aired by the new channel.
