Millions of people in Spain, Portugal, and Andorra were left without electricity today following a major power outage
The President's Office has announced a public procurement procedure to be supplied with electricity, its press service has said.
The aim is to become part of the free electricity market in a year when Bulgaria is committed to large-scale liberalization.
According to the press office, the amount of active power needed is estimated at 540 000 KWh, with an estimated value of BGN 46 000 (VAT excluded).
Offers can be submitted by February 22.
The Presidency's move to seek participation in the free market comes after the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), responsible for wholesale trade of electricity, started "realtime" operations following a month-long test period earlier in January.
