The Consumer Protection Commission (KZP) prohibited the practices of two Bulgarian telecommunication companies to refuse to their subscribers the option of terminating their contracts.
The practice of one of the telecoms is to refuse the termination of contracts unless the customer submits a request in the same office where the contract was signed.
This provision is not featured in the terms and conditions accepted by the customer at the signing of the contract.
The other telecom demands from its users to submit a notice for the termination of the contract exactly a month before its expiration by completing a special form.
According to KZP, these provisions are hampering users and constitute unfair commercial practices, with the commission being firm that these practices should be suspended.
In case the court upholds the decision of KZP, the companies can seek compensation. The telecoms are appealing the bans.
