Landmark Trial Begins: Former US President Trump Faces Criminal Charges
The first criminal trial against a former US president commences in a New York courtroom
Czech Republic President Milos Zeman, known for his staunchly anti-migrant stance, has said that the Muslim community cannot be integrated into the European society.
"The experience of Western European countries which have ghettos and excluded localities shows that the integration of the Muslim community is practically impossible," Zeman said in an interview with a Czech TV channel on Sunday, AFP reported.
Recalling the sex assaults on women on the New Year’s Eve in Cologne and otgher German cities as well as elsewhere in Western Europe, Zeman said: "Let them have their culture in their countries and not take it to Europe, otherwise it will end up like Cologne,” according to the AFP.
But immigration from countries with “similar cultures”, including Ukraine and Vietnam, had benefitted Czech society, according to Zeman.
It’s not the first time that Zeman has spoken against the massive inflow of migrants and refugees in Europe.
In his Christmas address to the Czech people Zeman said that he was “profoundly convinced” that last year’s influx of one million migrants from Asia, the Middle East and Africa in Europe was “an organised invasion and not a spontaneous movement of refugees.” He also called on young men from Iraq and Syria to 'take up arms' against the Islamic State (IS) group instead of running away.
