The Belgian prosecutors investigating the November 2015 deadly attacks in Paris have discovered a fingerprint belonging to fugitive Salah Abdeslam, together with traces of explosives and suicide belts, in a flat in Brussels.

The authorities believe that the apartment may have been used by one of the Paris attackers to hide after the attacks in the French capital on 13 November, newswires reported on Friday.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attacks carried out by suicide bombers that killed 130 people.

A fingerprint of Brussels-born French citizen Salah Abdeslam had been found by detectives during a raid on 10 December in the apartment in the Brussels district of Schaerbeek.  Salah Abdeslam, the brother of one of the suicide bombers, returned to Brussels from Paris the morning after the attacks and has still not been found.

Police found material that could be used to make explosives, traces of explosive acetone peroxide and handmade belts during a raid on the apartment, Belgian federal prosecutors said in a statement on Friday, according to Reuters.
