Bulgarian authorities on Tuesday warned drivers of potentially hazardous winter weather conditions in the country’s northwestern regions on Wednesday.

The government’s Road Infrastructure Agency on Tuesday called on motorists to avoid travel in the regions of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven and Lovech the following day due to the expected precipitation and low temperatures which could potentially lead to the formation of black ice.

Bulgaria’s national weather forecast service NIMH has issued yellow code alert about potentially hazardous weather in those regions.

The Troyan Pass in the Balkan mountain range remains closed for traffic.

The main and secondary roads in Silistra Region, which were closed for heavy trucks on Tuesday morning due to heavy snowfall, have now reopened.
