Bulgaria: Slovakia's President, Bulgaria's PM Discuss Gas Projects, Migration Crisis

Diversification of gas routes and supply sources in Europe as well as the migration crisis have been in the focus of Thursday’s meeting of Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov with Slovakia’s President Andrej Kiska in Sofia on Thursday.

Borisov informed Kiska about the signing of an investment decision for the construction of gas interconnection Greece – Bulgaria earlier on Thursday.

Kiska, on an official visit to Bulgaria, was also informed by Borisov about the support received from the European Commission for the construction of a gas hub in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian government press office said.

Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania signed a joint declaration in May backing the idea of building gas pipeline designed to link their gas transmission systems and currently known as Eastring.

Kiska and Borisov highlighted the need to tackle the root causes of migratory pressure and ensure wider cooperation with key third countries in order to resolve the migrant crisis.
