Bulgaria: Suspicious Luggage Evacuates School in Sofia

The pupils at 134th school Dimcho Debelyanov, located on Pirotska street in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, were evacuated on Tuesday morning due to the presence of a suspicious luggage left on the outside of the building.

Initially, the school day had been called off, but after the police check established no threats, the classes were resumed.

No explosive devices were found and the suspicious item, which had been placed in a waste bin, was blown up with a controlled explosion.

The interior ministry informed that the suspicious luggage contained latex, daily Dnevnik reports.

This is the latest of a series of false bomb threats and signals for suspicious items, which have intensified in the past weeks.

A suspicious van parked outside terminal 1 of Sofia airport closed the building for half a day last week.
