The snap election in Turkey gives a proof of the electorate's "strong desire for unity and integrity" of the country, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said after his former party won a landslide victory on Sunday.
The Justice and Development Party (AKP), of which Erdogan was a founder, headed to the polls for an early race after mustering just 40.87% of a vote on June 7, losing its majority in Parliament.
With nearly 100% of ballots counted, the AKP garnered 49.4% of the vote, with the runner-up, the People's Republican Party (CHP), trailing behind at nearly 25.4%.
The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has collected 11.93%, and pro-Kurdish peace and Democracy Party (HDP), at 10.70%, has passed the 10-percent election threshold to make it into Parliament.
AKP, despite regaining its majority, has failed to get enough MP seats in Parliament that would have allowed it to call a referendum on boosting the President's powers. The party will have 316 MPs according to latest projections - 14 less than the minimum needed to call a referendum on the issue. To embark on constitutional changes on its own, it would have required at least 367 seats.
In Diyarbakir, in Eastern Turkey, protests against AKP's victory erupted, with HDP supporters clashing with riot police.
The run-up to the vote was marked by security issues after too deadly suicide attacks (one in July and the other in October) and renewed clashes against insurgents from outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
