Apart from their Pool A encounter, the two teams also played against each other in the final of the First European Games in Baku in June, which the Germans won 3:1.
The quarterfinal between Bulgaria and Germany starts at 20:45 EET and will be broadcasted live on BNT 1.
In the other quarterfinal in Sofia, the reigning world champion Poland will face Slovenia in a repetition of their Pool C encounter which was won by the Poles 3:1.
One of the quarterfinals, which will be played in the Italian city of Busto Arsizio, pits against each other the teams of France and Serbia.
The two teams met each other at the final of this year's edition of the World League, which was won by the French 3:0.
In the other quarterfinal in Busto Arsizio, reigning European champion Russia will face the other co-host Italy in repetition of their encounter at the final of the 2013 European Championship, which the Russians won 3:1.
The semifinals, the third place match and the final will all take place at the Arena Armeec hall in the Bulgarian capital.
