FIFA Ethics Committee Provisionally Bans Blatter, Platini for 90 Days

The adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee provisionally banned FIFA President Sepp Blatter, UEFA President and FIFA Vice-President Michel Platini and FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke for a period of 90 days.
The duration of the bans, which come into force immediately, may be extended for an additional period of not more than 45 days.
FIFA Vice-President Chung Mong-joon was banned for six years and imposed a fine of CHF 100 000.
The FIFA officials are banned from all football activities on national and international level.
The bans are imposed while the officials are investigated on corruption allegations.
The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou, is most likely to succeed Blatter to the top of FIFA as he is the most senior vice-president, while Angel Maria Villar is expected to replace Platini.
Earlier this year, FIFA officials were detained on bribery and racketeering charges and an investigation into the bidding processes for hosting the 2018 and 2022 World Cups was started.
