Bulgaria: Danube Bridge Congested with 10-km Long Line of TIR Trucks
A 10-kilometer long line of TIR trucks formed last night at the Danube Bridge border checkpoint at Ruse.
Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry has advised people traveling to Greece to avoid the Kulata and Makaza border crossing points due to the kilometers-long queues of vehicles.
Traffic on the roads and motorways leading to the Bulgarian-Greek is intensive due to the decision of a large number of people to head for Greece for the four non-working days until September 22.
Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry recommends the border crossing points Ilinden, Kapitan Petko Voyvoda, and Ivaylovgrad.
Traffic is normal at all other border crossing points, according to a media statement of the Interior Ministry.
The press release also informs about traffic jams at the Trakia motorway (around Pazardzhik) and the Struma motorway (around Dupnitza).
According to reports of dnevnik.bg, a 5-kilometer queue has clogged up traffic at the Struma motorway section before Dupnitsa.
The traffic jam is believed to have been caused by a minor car crash, according to the Focus news agency.
