Bulgaria: Bulgarian Court Extradites Suspected IS Affiliate to Germany

The court in the Bulgarian city of Haskovo ordered on Tuesday the extradition of a suspected Islamic State (IS) affiliate to Germany.

The 21-year-old Moroccan, who holds a German passport, was detained at the Lesovo border checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Turkish frontier with fake documents on Monday.

He has been issued a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) in Germany and he also has a ban to leave the country, where he is sought for terrorism.

According to the Interpol Red Notice, the suspect had plans to join the ranks of IS, private bTV station informs.

The court in Haskovo charged the Moroccan with possession of fake documents and Bulgarian authorities did not interrogate him on the terrorism accusations.

As the Moroccan himself insisted on being extradited to Germany, the court ruled that there was no obstacle for the EAW to be implemented.
