The Supreme Election Board officially announced on Tuesday that the early general elections in Turkey will be held on November 1.

When considering the exact date of the elections, the board took into account the approaching winter, particularly in eastern and southeastern Turkey, Anadolu Agency informs.

The elections became necessary after the mandate for forming a government expired on Sunday with the four parliamentary represented parties failing to reach an agreement on a coalition.

None of the parties managed to obtain overall majority at the previous elections, which were held in June.

Turkish Prime Minister and leader of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Ahmet Davutoglu failed to negotiate an agreement with both the Republican People's Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), while the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) ruled out coalition with AKP from the beginning.

Thus, after the mandate was returned to him, Turkish President Recep Erdogan officially announced the holding of early elections on Monday.

Earlier on Tuesday, Erdogan entrusted Davutoglu with forming a provisional government, which will be in power until the elections.

According to a list prepared by parliament and sent to Davutoglu, AKP will have eleven ministers, CHP has been assigned five, while MHP and the pro-Kurdish HDP will have three ministries each.

Parties have to choose whether to participate in the provisional government, with both CHP and MHP already having expressed opposition to their inclusion in the interim cabinet.

The provisional government has to be formed within five days after the decision to hold early elections has been promulgated in the official gazette.

The incumbent cabinet of AKP will remain in power until the formation of an interim government.
