Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov will meet with Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov in Ashgabat on Tuesday.

The two are to discuss the diversification of bilateral commercial and economic partnership, increasing the trade volume, creating transport-transit corridors, and cooperation in tourism.

Borisov heads a delegation including Regional Development Minister Lilyana Pavlova and Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, Maya Hristova.

According to the press office of Bulgaria’s government, two cooperation agreements are to be signed Tuesday, including one between Bulgaria’s Regional Development Ministry and Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Construction and Architecture, and another one between the Bulgarian Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Promotion Executive Agency and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

The documents pave the way for strengthening and expanding bilateral economic relations and are a precondition for establishing lasting partnerships between business representatives from the two countries, according to the press office of the Bulgarian government.

Borisov visited the city of Turkmenbashi on Monday.

He was acquainted with the construction of a new international port and with the work of a local oil refining complex and the tourist zone Avaza.

On August 21, during a government sitting, Berdymukhamedov said that new prospects for cooperation in the sphere of transit and transport corridor projects were opening up for Turkmenistan and Bulgaria.
