Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov dismissed recent rumours about fifteen Bulgarian flags having been ripped in Kiev.
Mitov stated that the ministry will check the information, but he personally doubted that such an incident has taken place, he said in an interview for private bTV station on Wednesday.
According to information of local authorities, which was published at the website of Kiev city administration on Tuesday, the perpetrators mistook the Bulgarian flags for Russian ones.
The flags have been hoisted for the official two-day visit of Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev to Ukraine on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mitov added that for the first time the Bulgarian foreign minister and his Ukrainian counterpart jointly visited the Bulgarians in Odessa and Bolhrad.
According to him, this was a sign for the commitment of the Bulgarian state towards its fellow nationals in Ukraine.
Mitov once again reaffirmed Bulgaria's support for the EU membership of Ukraine.
