Photo of Winter Plovdiv Voted Best Picture in Nat Geo Russia Contest

A photo of the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv in the winter was voted the best picture by National Geographic Russia.
The picture of Stoyan Stoyanov depicts the evening lights of Plovdiv under a blanket of snow.
The team of National Geographic Russia notes the beautiful contrast between the cold crust of the snow and the warmth and cosiness of the city lying beneath it.
The information accompanying the photograph suggests that the picture might have been taken as preparations for the celebration of Christmas were undergoing in the houses.
The photo is the winner in the contest “The world from a height” organised by Casio.
