Germany Emerges as Top Destination for Bulgarian Tourists
Recent data from the German Tourist Board show a discernible trend, indicating an increased interest among Bulgarians in visiting Germany
UNESCO Secretary General Irina Bokova has yet again stated her position that preservation of cultural and historic monuments in conflict zones is a must. She affirmed her statement noting that despite conflicts in Iraq and Syria, cultural heritage must be secured.
Bokova has been the leader of UNESCO since 2009, when she received a second mandate. Some analysts even believe that she might harbor the ambition on occupying the position currently held by Ban Ki Moon, France TV reported. He will be resuming the position of a UN Secretary General in 2016.
‘’Cooperation between neighboring countries, Interpol, customs and antique markets has already led to the capturing of artifacts in Finland, Jordania, Livan, Turkey, Great Britain and the US,’’ Bokova said.
Apart from art culture, Bokova has noted that one of her main priorities as a leader of the international organization is also girl education. She also said that she is honored to be proposed by Bulgaria as a possible successor to Ban Ki Moon as she believes the UN has vital instruments in prevent wars across the world.
‘’We must teach young people to live in peace, we must try to instill in them the idea that humanity is a unified community despite cultural differences,’’ Bokova said. ‘’We are the ones responsible for turning cultural diversity into a source of power.’’
