Bulgaria's female tennis player Sesil Karatancheva was ousted from the second round of Roland Garros on Thursday.
Karatancheva was defeated by Irina Falconi from the USA with 6:3, 1:6, 2:6 in a match, which lasted slightly over an hour and a half.
The Bulgarian conceded eight breaks and was defeated for the second time in her career at this stage of the tournament, daily Dnevnik reports.
Both players started the match hesitantly, failing to win their service games, exchanging a series of breaks until 2:2.
After that Karatancheva won her service game, recorded her third break and came in the lead with 4:2.
The Bulgarian managed to keep her lead until 5:3, won the next game and claimed the first set.
The second set started with an exchange of service games, but after that Karatancheva's performance collapsed and she lost eight consecutive games.
Thus, the Bulgarian lost the second set with 1:6 and was 0:3 behind in the third set.
Eventually, she managed to recover, won a break and the subsequent service game, lowering the score to 2:3.
However Falconi won her next service game, achieved a break and claimed the match after closing the third set with 6:3.
