Bulgaria: Eurostars Representatives to Present to Bulgarian SMEs Opportunities for Accessing Grants

Representatives of Bulgarian businesses are invited to examine opportunities for applying for EU funding directly under the Eurostars program during a series of presentations on May 26.

Representatives of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Size Enterprises Promotion Agency and the Eurostars program will shed light on the opportunities for accessing grants on May 26.

The program aims to support knowledge-intensive, technology/innovation-based SMEs.

Eurostars is a joint programme between EUREKA and the EU Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) that aims to foster and fund collaborative research and development projects between companies in member states.

SMEs looking to partner with one or more companies in Europe on close-to-market R&D projects can apply to Eurostars Programme for research funding for the collaborative project.

Eurostars stimulates SMEs to lead international collaborative research and innovation projects by easing access to support and funding.

A Eurostars project must be carried out by a consortium involving at least 2 partners from two Eurostars participating countries.

The project life cycle must be short (max. 3 years) and the product of the research should be ready for the market within two years of the project’s completion.

In order to be eligible to apply, SMEs should be currently performing R&D in the company (R&D expenditure of 10% of turnover) and to have identified one or more companies in another country to collaborate with.

On May 26 Eurostars Project Coordinator Ana Tomasek will present the eligibility rules, the application procedure, the evaluation process, etc.

Mina Zhecheva, Project Officer at the Bulgarian Small and Medium Size Enterprises Promotion Agency, will shed light on the national rules applicable to the program.

The presentations start at 10 am at the Hotel Marinela Sofia (former Kempinski).
