A Roman villa from the time of Constantine the Great was discovered by archaeologists along the route of the Struma motorway near the western village of Mursalevo.
This is the 18th site of exceptional historical importance in the region, according to reports of private TV station NovaTV.
Apart from the villa, located on an area of three decares, archaeologists also discovered several farm buildings which had been used to store agricultural production and to accommodate workers.
After the conclusion of the excavation works, the archaeological find will remain under the new motorway.
