Poland's incumbent President Bronislaw Komorowski and conservative Andrzej Duda could face each other in a second round, exit poll results suggest.

According to a first exit poll released around 22:00 local time, neither Komorowski nor Duda have garnered a result beyond 50 percent and are projected to gain 32.2% and 34.8% respectively, according to Radio Poland.

However, these first results also cast doubt on projections of last opinion polls before the vote which estimated Komorowski was to be reelected.

If official results produce no clear winner, the runoff vote will take place on May 24.
