Iran Claims Israel Behind Gas Pipeline Explosions
An Iranian official has accused Israel of orchestrating an attack on gas pipelines in Iran last week
Gazprom has launched the construction of the sea section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, according to Alexei Miller, CEO of the Russian energy giant.
In a Friday interview for the Rossiya 24 TV Channel, Miller, as cited by the TASS news agency, announced that Gazprom had moved to the stage of construction of the sea stretch of Turkish Stream.
Miller said earlier that the Turkish Stream gas pipeline would become operational in December 2016.
In December 2014, Vladimir Putin announced that Russia had decided to quit the South Stream gas pipeline project.
The Turkish Stream was proposed as an alternative route for gas deliveries to Europe via Turkey.
The Turkish Stream gas pipeline will have a capacity of 63 billion cubic meters of gas per year, of which 47 billion cubic meters will be delivered to a new gas hub on the Turkish-Greek border.
The remaining 16 billion cubic meters of gas are to cover Turkey's domestic needs.
