Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis has received the support of PM Alexis Tsipras to participate in the upcoming meeting of the finance ministers in the Eurozone.
The statement was made by Government Spokesperson Gabriel Sakellaridis, as reported by Katimerini daily newspaper. He announced that the Finance Minister has always had the full support of PM Tsipras.
The information was released merely a day after the Tsipras reshuffled the negotiation team and placed the economist and Deputy Foreign Minister Euclid Tsakalotos at the helm, appointing him as coordinator. Thus, it seemed as though Varoufakis had been left behind.
Meanwhile, negotiations of the Greek bailout program are ongoing, as the focus has largely been put on the necessary pension and labor reforms in Bulgaria's southern neighbor.
Speaking at the University of Leuven in Belgium, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker stated that Greece has in fact shown progress, as rpeorted by Reuters.
