Three people have been found alive under the rubble of a house in a village in Nepal eight days after the powerful earthquake in the country, international newswires reported on Sunday.

Rescuers have pulled two women and a man alive from the rubble of their home in the village of Kerabari in the district of Sindhupalchowk, northeast of the capital Kathmandu. The area is one of the worst hit by the devastating quake that has claimed the lives of 7,056 people so far, Reuters said.

Meanwhile, a police team has pulled out the bodies of about 50 people, including some foreign mountain trekkers, from an area in the northern Rasuwa district hit by a massive avalanche triggered by the earthquake. The bodies haven’t been identified yet.

DPA said that 82 foreigners have been confirmed missing in Nepal since the quake.

According to the United Nations, 600,000 houses have been destroyed or damaged by the earthquake that that measured 7.8 on the Richter scale.

The United Nations said eight million of Nepal's 28 million people were affected, with at least two million needing tents, water, food and medicines over the next three months.
