The first Bulgarian cinema club will open doors in New York City. It is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Bulgarian Cinema and the appraisal Sofia received by UNESCO as City of Cinema.

Jana Karaivanova, founder and creative director of the Sofia Independent Film Festival and the General Consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in New York are the organizers of the initiative.

As announced, the cinema club will be presenting Bulgarian documentaries, feature movies, animations as well as short films, retrospections of previous editions of the Bulgarian festival in New York and contemporary works of Bulgarian artists that have been acclaimed abroad.

Selected films will be presented by both Bulgarian and US cinema artists, as well as representatives of various New York artistic circles.

Screenings will be free and will be held at the General Consulate of Bulgaria in New York.

This year's program will begin with the Bulgarian movie Letter to America, directed by Iglika Trifonova, starring Filip Avramov, Ana Papadopulu, Svetlana Yancheva, Maya Novoselska and many more. The original score of the movie was composed by Milcho Leviev.
