Bulgaria: German Foreign Minister Calls Rosen Plevneliev 'Romanian President' Photo: Frank-Walter Steinmeier's Official Facebook Profile

''Towards the end of my visit to Bulgaria, I was also received by the Romanian President Rosen Plevneliev,'' stated the Facebook profile of the German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Several hours later the mistake was corrected after a number of angry comments posted in response, including those of Bulgarians, BGglas daily reported.

During his official visit to Bulgaria on March 10, Steinmeier met with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and PM Boiko Borisov, as well as Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and leader of the leftist BSP party - Mihail Mikov.

A day earlier, the German Foreign Minister was an involuntary participant in a similar mistake during his visit to Romania.

In Bucharest, Steinmeier was unpleasantly surprised by his Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aurescu, who presented him with a momorable brochure marking the 135th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. However, the country outline, covered by the German flag was in fact France.

Romanian authorities apologized immediately, explaining that it was a technical mistake. Aurescu also apologized personally to Steinmeier, who replied that he hadn't noticed the mistake.
