Humanitarian Alarm in Gaza Prompts EU to Reassess Trade Pact with Israel
The European Union has moved to review Article 2 of its Association Agreement with Israel, signed in 2000
The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) decided on Thursday to suspend security cooperation with Israel, which is part of 1993 peace accords.
This move was retaliatory measure against Israel's decision to suspend the transfer of taxes to Palestinians after their application to join the International Criminal Court (ICC), the BBC reports.
Following the decision to suspend security cooperation, a Palestinian crashed his car into a group of Israeli pedestrians in Jerusalem and injured six policewomen on Friday.
The incident happened at the edge between East and West Jerusalem, at the same junction where an attack occurred last year, the BBC reports.
According to police reports, the attacker tried to stab people before he was shot and seriously injured by a security guard.
The attacker has been identified as Mohammed Salaymeh and there are reports of clashes around his home in East Jerusalem between Israeli forces and Palestinians.
The attack happened as the streets were busy with people, who celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim.
