The latest floods caused road damage worth BGN 13-14 M, according to Georgi Zlatev from Bulgaria’s Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA).
In a Friday interview for the Bulgarian National Radio, Zlatev informed that 80% of the district units of the RIA had submitted flood damage reports, with the ones in Burgas, Dobrich, Varna, and Shumen yet to file flood damage estimates after the flood waters recede from the roads in these regions.
He noted that the RIA will seek additional allocations from the state budget for road repairs in flood-hit areas.
Zlatev explained that the RIA’s existing budgetary heading for financing repairs and reconstruction works would be insufficient for such large-scale activities, adding that the RIA would ask the Interagency Commission on Recovery and Relief to cooperate.
GERB leader Boyko Borissov reacted to the fall of the Zhelyazkov government during a live broadcast on his official Facebook page, following the mass protests across the country.
The government is making a second clumsy attempt to introduce the state budget.
