Bulgarian Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski has assured that no provatizati0on procedure is underway for national postal operator Bulgarian Posts.

Moskovski commented on the fate of the state-owned postal operator in response to a question of Stanislav Ivanov, MP from center-right party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) during a sitting of the parliamentary transport committee.

On Monday, trade union leader Georgi Bochev argued that a plan envisaging the covert privatization of Bulgarian Posts, combined with depriving the company of its property, was being prepared.

Moskovski, as cited by the BGNES news agency, underscored that there was no opportunity to launch a privatization procedure for Bulgarian Posts as the company was on the no-privatization list and could only be removed from it through a decision of Parliament.

Bulgaria’s Transport Minister claimed that the authorities were working to guarantee the sustainability, stability, and development of the national postal operator.

He noted that a company played an important social role as some 2/3 of its offices were in small-size settlements.

He said that the strategy for the stabilization of the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) company would be ready by mid-February, adding that it would most probably cover a 10-year period.

Moskovski, as cited by news.bg also pointed out that no candidate had expressed interest in purchasing the cargo unit of BDZ, BDZ Freight Services.

He said that investors had shown interest in the Gorna Oryahovitsa airport and the Ruse-East port terminal on the Danube River.
