A workgroup in the Russian Duma will take the task of recalculating the reparations owed by Germany as a means of alleviating the consequences of World War II. The final result as stated will be presented to the German government.

Mikhail Degtyarov, MP from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia made the proposal on Tuesday, reported by TASS. He expressed the belief that after the estimation is completed, reparations will amount to EUR 3-4 T.

A parallel was drawn between this idea and the way ''today's Germany continues inflicting damage on Russia as it presses forward with unlawful sanctions on the part of the EU.''

At the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Thursday, the Russian delegate took the decision of suspending its participation in the organisation after PACE voted to deprive the country of voting rights.

Similarly, newly-elected Greek PM Alexis Tsipras also discussed reparation claims directed towards Germany, but the latter refused any possible payments.

Meanwhile, Russian lawmaker Nikolai Ivanov made a proposal on Wednesday for the condemnation of the annexation of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) by the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) in 1989. MP in Russian parliament embraced the idea and issued an official statement in support of it.

EU sanctions against Russia were qualified as ''incompetent'' after the annexation of Crimea, since the event happened as a result of a referendum with 97% of people agreeing with the decision.
