Bulgaria: Bulgaria's Overall Progress 'Not Enough' - CVM Report Fascimile This is part of the CVM report's summary BGNES news service claims to have obtained.

Bulgaria has achieved limited progress in the judiciary, the forthcoming EU Commission report on the country says according to media reports.

Some improvement have also been registered in the prosecution in terms of efficiency and appointment procedures, but trust in the system has been generally undermined by failure to convict leaders of organized criminal gangs, a fascimile of the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) report's summary obtained by the BGNES news service purportedly reveals.

The text also cites a series of revelations on political influence on the judiciary, adding very few cases of corruption and organized crime have resulted in sentences.

It says "progress has been slow" in addressing judicial reform and making concrete advances on corruption and organized crime.

The CVM report is to be officially unveiled on Wednesday, with the government in Sofia already expecting a "negative" assessment.

Both Bulgaria and Romania have been subject to the mechanism for years after their accession into the EU in 2007.
