Bulgaria: DPS Nominates Elena Yoncheva for MEP
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) in Blagoevgrad has nominated Elena Yoncheva as a candidate for the European Parliament, sparking intense debate and speculation
Prof Mihail Konstantinov has been heading the Board of Directors at Information Services since January 8, the state-owned IT company's website [BG] shows.
In March 2013, under Marin Raykov's interim government, stepped down after a scandal triggered by his much-disputed comments that he would do "everything possible" to prevent a tripartite coalition from taking over following the early elections which then were scheduled for May.
He was referring to any form of government including the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) and right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), with the former two having formed a "tripartite" coalition with the entity of Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha between 2005 and 2009. The three abovementioned parties then demanded Konstantinov's resignation.
Information Services later turned out to be the single bidder that had run in the tender to count the ballots.
The company is in charge of setting up and maintaining IT networks and infrastructure, mostly providing services to state-owned entities, energy utilities and units of the administration.
Konstantinov has been known for many years for his frequent comments on politics and election campaigns in TV interviews.
