This is a second victory for Dimitrov against his German opponent, having claimed the first one in the Swiss Open in Gstaad in 2012.
The Bulgarian was confident throughout the whole match, scoring 11 aces and achieving 5 out of 11 possible breaks.
In the second round Dimitrov will face Lukas Lacko from Slovakia, who defeated the Argentinian Maximo Gonzales with 4:6, 6:2, 7:5, 6:7, 6:1.
